Everyday doors are straightforward structures whether they are sturdy frames supporting lighter infill panels or lightweight cores inside a tougher plywood skin.

Doors are fitted with ‘furniture’  which includes the hinges, locks, handles, finger and kick plates as well as closures and stops.  These elements, along with the construction can be configured in different ways so that doors can be seen to be formal, decorative, sturdy or even simple, but none are wholly functional.
