DESIGN & REALIZATION

In the mid 1980’s I wrote and illustrated a design text book for UK schools published by Oxford University Press which over the years sold 88,000 copies worldwide. I chose a rather controversial, hand drawn approach, conceived to be a child friendly ‘comic strip’ which imparted detailed information across a broad range of practical and technical data for the then newly introduced UK course in Design and Technology.

The 196 pages where packed with easily digestible information on a range of diverse and complex topics such as how to design, technical illustration, aesthetic considerations and gathering design information. It also explored design materials, tools and techniques, manufacturing processes as well as some basic principles of engineering, and technology .   

I note that this book, some 35 years after publication, is still available on Amazon, eBay and Etsy and I continue to receive photocopying royalties.
