MILK BOTTLE

The plastic milk bottle is made from High Density Polythene. The bottles are blow formed which means a hot tube of plastic is clamped in a heated steel mould with an air jet at the base. The tube is inflated and blown out to form the shape of the mould. The air tube is removed and the hole sealed as the plastic cools to create the form.

DRAWING the MILK BOTTLE

The image is a simple line drawing with areas filled with flat, muted colours. The interlocking forms provide an interesting relationship of shapes. The way they translate into a simple solid is effective and the sculptural forms, as well as providing an integral handle, could be seen to be reminiscent of many abstract sculptures of the1950’s.
