LIFE

The complete circle represents the 4.5 billion years of planet Earth’s evolution and the arcs are the timelines of different life forms.  The inner three represent water based life starting with the single cells which have been on earth for 4 some billion years. The next ring depicts the slower development of multi cell forms whilst the third shows the sea based vertebrates.

The outer arcs represent the much later development of land based life. The fourth arc depicts land based vertebrates whilst the fifth is plant life. The sixth ring portrays the 160 million years of the Dinosaurs. Above them are the mammals who survived the asteroid impact. This leaves the tiny dash at the top which represents the relatively short period that we humans have been on the scene.
