HOPE

The image represent the global energy sector CO2 emissions and comes from the IEA World Energy Outlook and the Guardian newspaper.

From one side of the image to the other covers the period from 2015 to 2030. The shape at the bottom represents emissions in gigatonnes of CO2 [1,000,000,000 tonnes]. The V shaped dip is the period of the Covid pandemic and the centre of the image is the current level with the curve on the right hand side showing the continued rise then predicted reduction of CO2 emissions.

The lower edge of the darker green upper shape is the rise based on output pre the Paris COP in 2015 called the Pre-Paris Baseline.

The coloured sectors filling the gap between the two predictions show the contributions of different initiatives which it is anticipated will reduce our overall carbon output.

The yellow section shows the increased use of solar energy. The light blue is the contribution of the growth of wind energy and the turquoise show the effect of electric vehicles. The muddy green section at the bottom represents a variety of other smaller factors.
