The urinal is in widespread use in public toilets where it provides an enclosed space for male urination. There are many variations on the basic theme as can be seen from these images gathered over a two year period across the UK and France. On some models the manufacturers have introduced a small image of a fly on the internal surface near to the drainage point. This has been found to offer a target for the pee stream and has been found to significantly reduce ‘splash back’ and decrease toilet cleaning costs.


It is interesting to note that Peter Frankopan  writes  that ”In India more people have access to a mobile phone than a flushing toilet “.
