Karl Knausgaard in one of his ‘Autumn’ essays discusses the significance of the frame which “makes the boundary between what is in the picture and what is not”. He points out that “in nature there are no frames, all things and phenomena merge into one another.  He also points out that “we spend [own lives] largely in our homes, precisely demarcated from the rest of the world” seeing it through the window.
