HOUSE FIRES

A Which report, taken from three years of official statistics, shows that washing machines, tumble dryers and freezers are causing more than 60 house fires a week in the UK. Malfunctioning kitchen appliances have lead to almost 16,000 blazes in the last 5 years and it was a Fridge Freezer which started the Grenfell Tower blaze that killed 72 people.

Government statistics show that there are an average of 443 house fires every day in Britain with 46% happening between 16.00 and 22.00 hours. Most occur in August and the least in February. Current figures indicate a 16% increase on the previous year and whilst almost 50% of these are caused by cooking appliances, 16% are from faulty electrical goods.
