GALLERY DOOR

A simple modern flush door with a single viewing panel is the entrance to an upstairs gallery and arts cafe. The relatively mundane design has been given a strong image by painting it black to integrate with the black flooring. This colour is contrasted by cream walls which cause it stand out as the dominant visual focus. The simplicity of the door design with its rectangular elements reminds one of a contemporary abstract painting. An image which is reinforced by the large numeral which denotes the floor number.

Being propped open the door offers a tantilising glimpse of the interior, encouraging the visitor to enter. This sense of curiosity is further developed by a staircase which can be glimpsed  to the right. This also offers the promise of exploration particularly as the the light source which illuminates this area is coming from above.
