THINGS OVERLOOKED / PLASTIC CHAIR
‘Silla Selva’ is a one piece plastic chair made by Balliu in northern Spain. It stems from a design innovation of the 1960‘s which created these strong, lightweight structures that are made in one moulding operation. A similar wooden chair would be made up from at least 16 pieces. Each piece has to be cut and shaped before being joined and finished. These chairs are now widely used in gardens and outdoor spaces where they are weather resistant, colour fast, stackable and easy to clean.
